Two Amazing Things Happened at the Same Time — and It’s a Sign! ✨

Hundreds of years ago, the Zohar made a prediction about our time — and it came true.

The Zohar’s Prediction

The Zohar said: starting from around the Hebrew year 5500 — about 260 years ago — two things would open up at the exact same time:

  • The secrets of the Torah — the deep inner wisdom of Chassidus — would be revealed to the world
  • The gates of secular knowledge — science, technology, medicine — would burst open

It Came True

The Baal Shem Tov revealed Chassidus. And at the exact same time, the world exploded with scientific and technological discoveries.

Two completely different kinds of wisdom — spiritual and physical — both opened up together. That’s not a coincidence. It’s a sign.

The Footsteps of Moshiach

This era is called ikvisa d’Meshicha — which means “the footsteps of Moshiach.” The Rebbe explains: yes, this is also the darkest time spiritually. But it’s precisely because the darkness is so thick that you can hear Moshiach’s footsteps getting closer.

What Do We Do?

We serve Hashem with everything we have — and that’s what draws Moshiach’s light down. The closer we get, the more signs we see. And we’re very, very close.

🧠 Check Your Understanding

What best describes what we are experiencing in our current era?

A. The signs of Moshiach we see today prove that Geula is near — and our avoda through the darkness is what draws his redemptive light.

Exactly right! ✅ The Zohar’s prediction came true — both Torah wisdom and secular knowledge opened at the same time. And the Rebbe teaches that our devoted service in this dark time is precisely what brings Moshiach’s light closer.

B. The signs show Geula is near, but our main job is to understand them intellectually rather than focus on personal avoda.

Not quite. Understanding the signs is meaningful, but the post emphasizes that it’s specifically our active service — doing Torah and mitzvos — that draws Moshiach’s light down.

C. The signs are encouraging, but Geula will ultimately come through miracles alone, independent of what we do.

No — the post teaches the opposite. Our avoda plays a vital and active role. Hashem wants us to be partners in bringing the Geula, not passive bystanders.
